You and I both have some vital data that just cannot be lost. It is priceless. I am sure you have lost some photos and home videos in your life. You cannot replace those. A robust set of external backup drives and or a cloud are essential to protecting your data.
I set up a cloud system known as Next cloud in addition to my Microsoft office cloud. I then added robust ssd and external hard drives to that additional cloud that allow me to back up all my families photos and videos along with my own coding in not just one but TWO cloud locations.
Setting up a cloud may not be the way you want to go. Whether you use a cloud, a commercial cloud or a set of external hard drives you will most likely need some kind of external hard drive system.
On my cloud system I installed an usb 3.2 router and a daisy chain of High capacity exteranal usb drives. I use these drives both as a physical in person backup and additionally on my Nextcloud Cloud server to make sure I vaccuum up data that I may forget to download myself to usb.
