I became interested in games and computers at the same time. Back in 1980 the first Radio Shack color computer came out. Its specifications ( for mine)  are below. Users affectionately called this machine the CoCo ( Color Computer)

A computer case and keyboard all in one

Two joystick ports

8K of Read only memory (ROM)
16K of Random Access Memory (RAM)

You had to load and save any and all data or software with a cassette.
May pieces of software were sold at Radio Shack stores on Cartridges similar to the Atari and Nintendo cartridges.

I wrote my first pieces of software in 1980 in the CoCo version of CoCo Basic.
My software worked.  I was hooked on computers ever since.


I then dove deep into how these machines work, and why they at times stop working.

Lets look at the different parts of the machines and give you a crash course in - what you want in a computer and what you cen do to make it even more powerful.
The modern Microsoft Windows desktop and laptop is an amazingly powerful machine. The parts that make it so powerful can be swapped out, and upgraded. You can even upgrade and improve ten year old machines if you keep the parts clean. ( Dust removal). You can build a machine into a gaming beast. You can follow along this guide and upgrade a machine to being a beast. You can also follow this guide and make sure your next purchase IS that gaming beast.

In the case of a Windows Desktop, it is very possible to buy a cheaper model and upgrade the parts you want piecemeal until you transform it into your masterpiece.

World of warcraft is this amazingly beautiful game that becomes even more spectacular when you add an Nvidia Geforce 4090 Graphics card to the mix.  If you run the game on a dedicated gaming PC or if you build your own it will look equally amazing.   A Dell Alienware desktop will bring jaw dropping raytracing to your characters in WoW.

Alienware or some equivalent is your best bet to Gaming performance. But if you can build your own you can save a MINT !



Raytracing is what brings real reflections to your game.  It brings real shadows that move into your game.  Raytracing  brings real projected  and reflected colors from stained glass windows .  The on the fly math that an Nvidia 4090  g.p.u. or Graphics processing unit will bring amazing reality to the scenery and vistas in World of Warcraft.  When you plan out your next computer plan to get the best Nvidia Geforce or AMD graphics card that you can get. Your g.p.u. should be about 1/3 the budget of your new computer.  If you are spending 3k on a machine about 1000 should go to the g.p.u.

If you can afford it an Nvidia Geforce 4090 card will make your game spectacular.

Your game will be slowed down by something called spooling. Spooling is a type of lag caused by a lack of RAM memory. Having as much ram as possible on your gaming rig is a necessity.

The solution to Spooling lag is to beef your computer up with as much RAM as possible. More ram means a faster gaming desktop.

Ram allows your game and data to be processed while your computer is on. You can avoid lag from spooling by having at minimum 32 gigs of ram but if you can beef your RAM up to 64 gigbyte to 128 gigabytes you will be set. 128 gigabytes of RAM allows you to play as much as you want and never have to face the lag of spooling to disk,
